Cumbria care homes and Cumbria nursing homes

Cumbria is the 3rd largest county in England by area yet is only the 41st largest by population. This is due it it being a largely rural area, with only five towns having a population of more than 20,000, the largest being its' only city Carlisle.

Most of the centre of the county is taken up by the Lake District National Park, one of largest National Parks in the Uk and a very popular toursit destination.

Statistically Cumbria has one of the least ethnically diverse populations in the UK with 96% of the population being classed as White British at the last census. Nevertheless, its' black and ethnic minority population is growing at twice the national average.

As of the 2001 census there were 64,075 people aged over 70 living in Cumbria, approximately 13.1% of the total population. Within the county there are 175 residential care and nursing care homes providing services for older people and people with learning disabilities.
